Cooking with solar energy is, specifically in tropical countries, a topic which rarely is devoped, save promulgated, with adequate technologies. Besides the solar cookers shown below, the institute for energy efficiency at the Universidad de Oriente in Santiago de Cuba also has developed systems with special collector systems permitting usage of solar energy for cooking indoors.

In the past, Gecotec e.V. has been engaged in producing various prototypes of these solar cookers in Mexico and Nepal.

The purpose here, as in other projects, is to use the resources of the developing countries for the implementation of eco-technologies, to strengthen own competences and capacities for economic development of these countries, and, if possible, to transfer these technologies further on.
