The traditional annual meeting of sponsored children in Kathmandu was once again a special moment for everyone involved – for us, for the children and young people, for their families, and for the entire NHEFoN team.
Medical Care for All – A Vital Cornerstone
A public healthcare system like the one we know in Europe does not exist in Nepal. This makes it all the more important that we provide every child and young person with a thorough health check-up each year as part of Project Day.
The encouraging news: apart from the usual dental issues, no serious illnesses were found. Only one case gives us cause for concern – a young girl is showing signs of an eating disorder and severe underweight. The NHEFoN team will continue to work closely with her family and provide further support if needed.
We are especially grateful that Dr Samikshya Tamang and her husband once again volunteered to provide medical care this year. Samikshya herself was once supported by NB&G and Gecotec and completed her medical training with our help. Today, she is passing on that gift. An impressive circle of solidarity.
