After 3.5 months of construction, the work in Gope has been completed! A big thank you to Ram Kumar Tamang and his team for their tireless efforts under challenging conditions - overnight stays in sub-zero temperatures, very basic accommodation, but always with competence, commitment and joy in their work. This attitude is a great role model for us.
Improvements that make everyday life easier
By joining forces, we were able to realise important projects that make daily life in Gope safer and more comfortable:
- The new sanitary block
It is not only functional, but perhaps even the most beautiful toilet block in the entire Himalayas! Now it is up to the school and the children to take good care of it. - More safety for the schoolchildren
A new safety gate prevents accidents on the school grounds - a small measure with a big impact. And three benches for the children were quickly made from the leftover materials. - Clean water for the school and neighbours
With enormous physical effort, a water pipe was laid from a spring deep in the jungle to the school. Now not only the schoolchildren but also some families in the neighbourhood have access to clean water.
A collective project with a big impact
The total construction and labour costs amounted to €25,000 - financed by numerous donors, NB&G and DESWOS.
A big thank you to everyone who made this project possible.
