We send you greetings from Kathmandu today from our partners Maya and Ram from NHEFoN.
Ram has survived the severe corona disease very well. However, he still needs time to get back to full health. Those who know Ram know that he is looking forward to new projects in 2021. But now it’s time for recovery before he will visit the region which has asked for our support in building a clinic, in January. The region is located south of the Everest region, near Ram’s birthplace.
The preliminary plans for 2021 contain:
- Continuation of our sponsorships for education and study support,
- Health care and assistance in case of illness,
- Construction of another clinic in the southern Everest area near Jhakribas,
- Supervision and support of the existing facilities in Betang (school and clinic) and Bhorle (clinic).
Latest news:
- Schools in Kathmandu have reopened, but children may continue to stay at home and be taught via their smartphones. Ram is providing these students with sufficient data volume. The money he didn’t have to give the schools for food has been spent on data volume and technical support of homeschooling.
- Ram tells us that the corona situation in Kathmandu has not really improved, but the numbers are not going up either. There still are virtually no cases emerging in the mountain regions.
- Tourists are allowed to re-enter through airports, but must then spend 10 days in quarantine in a special hotel.
