Dear supporters,
since March 31st 2026, clean water is flowing in Gope - directly to the homes of around 850 people. What we take for granted represents a fundamental change in the daily lives of the families in the village. The long journeys to distant water points, lugging heavy canisters and drinking water of dubious quality are now a thing of the past.
Let’s remind ourselves more often just how fortunate we are!
Five weeks that have made a difference
Construction took place under difficult conditions: steep terrain, wintry temperatures, long distances between the houses. The fact that the project could nevertheless be completed in such a short time is primarily owed to the extraordinary dedication of everyone involved on-site.
Ram Kumar Tamang, who took charge of site management, and Madhav Regmi, the civil engineer, oversaw the entire process on a voluntary basis and with great expertise - often spending weeks away from home, in the most basic conditions. The people of Gope themselves also made a significant contribution to the success of the project through their labour and their contribution to the joint funding.
What your support has achieved
This project was a joint achievement: Gecotec e.V., NB&G Switzerland, DESWOS, the commune of Gope and private donors have worked together to ensure that clean water in this remote Himalayan village is no longer a distant hope but simply: flowing.
We hope to implement many more such projects for the benefit of the people of Nepal together with you.
Warm regards
Anne Peter - Gecotec e.V.,
Elisabeth Schwery - NB&G Switzerland and
Ram Kumar Tamang - NHEFoN Nepal
