Dear donors, dear people interested in Nepal,
The 2024 project trip to open our fourth maternity and health centre in Baidarbhanjyang/Kimalung, Bhojpur district, the visit to the clinic in Gope, a visit to our partner school in Gope, Solu Khumbu, and a health and education project day in Kathmandu are over. It was a full programme with long, arduous and enchanting hiking days, sociable evenings, intensive exchanges and optimal support from our NHEFoN team and the entire trekking team. We would never have made it without their assistance.
Both maternity and health centres are far away from any kind of care facility, only schools are available. There are hardly any NGOs working in these regions. The effort to provide support there is really huge - also because of the long and arduous transport routes from Kathmandu or Biratnagar. Ram Kumar Tamang and our civil engineer Madhav Regmi have often been asked why they do this. The answer: because we can and because everything is lacking in these regions. We were able to experience first-hand the effort and vigour these regions demand. All the more reason for us to admire Ram Kumar Tamang and his entire team for their work in these truly remote areas.
With a fantastic team of 20 people including porters, cooks and Sherpas as well as our colleagues from NHEFoN, Deswos and NB&G, we all arrived home safe and sound. We will never forget this adventure trip by aeroplane, on foot and with never-ending, arduous off-road jeep journeys on very rugged tracks.
We would like to take you on an unforgettable project trip in 2024 with great pictures by Ram’s colleague Ramesh Tamang. The photos accompany us on the stages of our journey:
