Village Clinic Betang

Construction news

Dear godparents, supporters and friends of Gecotec e.V., NEPAL Bildung & Gesundheit CH and NHEFoN

Namaste.

Just before the summer holidays we can share good news with you: we now have obtained the full approval for the building of our village clinic in Bhorle.

We are very pleased that due to new, decentralized structures the proceedings for Ram and our Nepalese architect were simpler this time than they were when building the school in 2016. The new government appears to advance decentralization.

The total cost of 60,000€ continues to appear realistic. This amount also includes the cost of equipment for the clinic. The obligatory basic facilities are specified by the government and their cost amounts to approx. 7,000€. Running expenses for the nurse will be borne by the government.

The building is so dimensioned that - should an occasion arise - another storey can be added without large financial expenses to obtain, if required, more rooms for treatment.

Depending on when the rainy season ends, building activity will start between early and mid November.

Like for the erection of the school, site management and project management will be Ram Kumar Tamang’s task. He will reside for the entire duration of the construction works in Bhorle, procures the material, hires the workers and is responsible for the entire execution.

Madhav Regmi is responsible for the drawings and all construction stages relevant for statics and safety. He has the obligation to come to Bhorle for these stages and remain responsible on-site until the relevant stages have been completed. In all phases he will be supported by Dr. Kurt Rhyner/EcoSur.

The population of Bhorle is looking forward to the new building and the improvement of their living conditions coming with it, and also because thus jobs are coming to the village. They know that Ram is treating them very fairly and respectfully, but also that he has high demands regarding reliability and competence.

Together with our Swiss donors we already have 50,000€ at our disposal and we are sure that with your support we will be able to raise the final 10,000€ as well. Thus Bhorle will develop from a “black hole of health provision” to a focal point for the region.

We now look forward to the start in November 2018 and wish success for all who are involved in and around Bhorle, and hope for a simplified life for the people in the catchment area of the new village clinic.
